Freycinet Vineyard’s good name and reputation for Pinot Noir has developed over more than 40 years of producing fine Pinot Noir from our distinguished site. We are proud of the many accolades, awards and recognition Freycinet Pinot Noir has received over the decades.

It gives us immense joy to hear from customers about their magnified drinking pleasure experienced after opening special bottles of Freycinet Pinot Noir from their cellars. Our relatively warmer, drier amphitheatre site creates a more muscular, robust style of Pinot Noir that lends itself very well to cellaring.

The vineyard’s bloodline and pedigree are unmistakable in this 2021 Freycinet Pinot Noir. Typical hallmarks of power, concentration, fruit purity and complexity and enviable length are all featured in abundance. This is an unmissable vintage for lovers of Pinot Noir and loyal followers of Freycinet and a must have for the cellar.

The 2021 vintage brought lower than average yields and cooler conditions throughout  the growing season. Fruit quality was excellent with small bunches and berries providing superb concentration of flavours, fine supple tannins and good acid balance. Chardonnay was some of the finest grown in many years.

Fully ripened fruit is handpicked for this wine from our original 1979 plantings of mostly G5V15 clone. 100% whole berry fermentation provides impressive fruit weight and powerful tannins. Matured in French oak barriques (30% new) for 17 months on fine lees.

The hallmarks of power, concentration, complexity and great length feature in this wine. Alluring aromas of spice and black cherries, ripe raspberries and plums combine with a subtle perfume of game, truffle and cedar. The vibrant palate is smooth and even with an abundance of ripe berry and plum flavours intermingled with sweet oak nuances, fine savoury tannins and a velvety mouthfeel. Silky texture and gamey, intriguing forest floor characteristics will develop with careful cellaring over 10 to 15 years.

A magnificent wine reflecting the unique terroir of a very special site.
