2023 Freycinet Vineyard Syrah Pinot Noir

This vibrant and juicy wine combines the spice, pepper and structure of cool climate Syrah (85%) with the silky perfume and elegance of Pinot Noir (15%). A considered step away from bold and boisterous Shiraz, this single vineyard wine offers heady floral aromas, mixed berry fruits, cherries and a violet lift, framed by satiny tannins and a dusting of Sichuan pepper. Approachable and delicious now, or cellar for 8 - 10 years. 

"85/15% syrah/pinot noir. I gotta say I'm a sucker for these sort of blends. In the right hands, they are simpatico varieties, pinot lending some raspberry, game and floral high tones to the depth of the shiraz fruit, letting a little more light in I guess. And they are in good hands here. Medium-bodied, sinewy and sapid with just the right amount of toothsome tannin, a lip-smacking finish and a real ease of drinking."
