2025 Freycinet Vineyard Pinot Noir

Freycinet Vineyard’s good name and reputation for Pinot Noir has developed over more than 41 years of producing fine Pinot Noir from our distinguished site. We are proud of the many accolades, awards and recognition Freycinet Pinot Noir has received over the decades. 

This signature Freycinet Pinot Noir is produced from meticulously hand tended original plantings and is a wine of great character, complexity and longevity reflecting the ideal
and unique terroir of our site.

The vines began spring with a strong start after a typical winter of average temperatures and rainfall. Spring rainfall reached only 70% of the norm, though slightly warmer conditions prevailed. The warmth carried into summer, supported by well-timed rain. By the harvest months of March and April, rainfall had dropped to 60% of average and the season turned noticeably drier. The consistently warm weather promoted even ripening, while excellent flowering earlier in the season led to higher-than-usual yields. Overall, the season produced well balanced fruit of outstanding quality.

This wine displays hallmarks of power, concentration, complexity, and length. Alluring aromas of spice, macerated cherries, ripe raspberries, and plums are lifted by delicate notes of rosehip, truffle, and forest undergrowth. The palate is vibrant and refined, layered with exotic spice, satsuma plum, pomegranate, and sour cherry, seamlessly interwoven with subtle oak, mineral tannins, and a satiny mouthfeel. Careful cellaring over 10 to 15 years, will enhance its silky texture and the gamey, forest-floor nuances will continue to evolve.
