2025 Louis Chardonnay

Crafted from 31-year-old estate vines, this wine is the juicy, approachable counterpart to FreycinetChardonnay, designed for immediate enjoyment and short-term cellaring. It was barrel fermented in predominantly seasoned French oak barriques, with 5% new oak providing subtle structure and texture. This approach enhances complexity and mouthfeel while preserving purity of fruit. Bright flavours of grapefruit, white peach, lime, and ripe melon are balanced by a long, crisp, mineral finish. An ideal Chardonnay for relaxed occasions and everyday drinking. 

The vines began spring with a strong start after a typical winter of average temperatures and rainfall. Spring rainfall reached only 70% of the norm, though slightly warmer conditions prevailed. The warmth carried into summer, supported by well-timed rain. By the harvest months of March and April, rainfall had dropped to 60% of
average and the season turned noticeably drier. The consistently warm weather promoted even ripening, while excellent flowering earlier in the season led to higher-than-usual yields. Overall, the season produced well-balanced fruit of outstanding quality.
